Four months after listing his longtime Beachwood Canyon residence in Los Angeles for just under $4 million, Nuno Bettencourt, the lead guitarist of the Boston rock band Extreme and a touring guitarist for pop superstar Rihanna, has sold the property for $3.7 million. Although this is $200,000 less than the asking price, it’s still a significant $1.6 million profit over what Bettencourt paid in spring 2013.

The contemporary home, situated on a hillside parcel of about one-third of an acre, was built in the early 1990s and features a multi-level gray stucco structure with three glassy side-by-side garage bays. The updated residence includes five bedrooms and six bathrooms across more than 5,500 square feet of open-plan living space. Rustic hardwood floors, vaulted ceilings, skylights, and an elevator complement the picturesque views of the Downtown L.A. skyline, Griffith Observatory, Hollywood Sign, Lake Hollywood, and the Pacific Ocean.

Highlights of the home include a double-height living room with a wood-encased fireplace, a wet bar, and sliding glass doors that open to the outside. The house also features an office space, a cozy den, a formal dining room, and a gourmet kitchen with an eat-in island, top-tier stainless appliances, and a breakfast nook. The primary bedroom offers a sitting area, a private balcony, a walk-in closet and dressing area, and a stylish bathroom with a soaking tub, separate shower, and sauna. The property’s grounds are equally impressive, with an upper deck that hosts a pool and spa flanked by a sundeck and an open-air cabana. Additionally, a guesthouse that previously served as a recording studio is on the premises.

Extreme gained major success with their 1990 album “Pornograffitti,” which peaked at No. 10 on the Billboard 200 and earned double-platinum certification. The album features hit singles like “Hole Hearted” and “More than Words,” the latter of which remains a rock classic with over half a billion streams and over 633 million YouTube views. The band recently released “Six,” their first studio album since 2008, which was recorded at Bettencourt’s home studio and reached No. 10 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart, selling 12,500 copies in its first week.
