These are time-stamped photographs, taken in a heartbeat and preserved as eerie tributes to lives lost.
Whether they are candid shots or smiling selfies, these last images of people taken just before they pass away are as heartbreaking as they are eerie.
Some depict happy couples enjoying holidays and joking with loved ones, oblivious to the terrible turn of events fate was about to bring. Others, with trembling helicopters and places that would eventually become the scenes of unspeakable horror, seem disturbing in retrospect.
In one terrifying instance, a smiling newlywed couple was seen leaving their celebration shortly before an intoxicated driver ran them over. The bride passed away right away.
Earlier this week, a motorbike rider with a gun rushed past a TikTok beauty influencer’s salon and shot her three times in the head and chest, killing her on a broadcast.

Just before they were murdered by a twister at a waterfall in Brazil last month, a couple shared a heartbreaking final selfie on social media.
These images, which were gathered from online sources, families, and archives, are more than just ghastly oddities. They serve as heartbreaking reminders of the transience of existence, the arbitrary nature of death, and the moving beauty of a moment captured in time.
Every picture has a backstory, a bereaved family, and a life that was cut short.
Bride in chopper before fatal crash on way to wedding
Just a few kilometres before the ceremony, the helicopter carrying the bride to the altar as a surprise for her future husband crashed, killing her minutes before her wedding.
Sao Paulo, Brazil native Rosemere do Nascimento Silva was killed in December 2016 together with three other people: her brother Silvano Nascimento da Silva, pilot Peterson Pinheiro, and six-month pregnant photographer Nayla Cristina Neves.
Unaware of her plans or the deadly plane crash, the 32-year-old’s fiancé, Udirley Damasceno, was left waiting at the wedding location.
As part of the crash inquiry, local news outlets posted footage of the helicopter’s moment of downing online.
The video shows the stunning bride looking out of the Robinson 44 helicopter’s window with joy and excitement.
However, the ill-fated helicopter passengers can be heard yelling in terror as the alarm sounds and the image starts to tremble.
The camera hits the ground with such force that it smashes but keeps recording.
At the altar, the minister broke the news to the unhappy bridegroom, who reportedly went into complete shock.
Only roughly half of the 300 guests at the wedding were aware of the surprise.
About a mile from the wedding location, in a wooded area close to a major road, the helicopter crashed. Normally, the trip would have taken only fifteen minutes.
Despite the arrival of eight fire engines, the four occupants could not be saved.
Bride and groom mowed down by drunk driver on wedding day
In 2023, a speeding drunk motorist struck a newlywed bride and groom as they were leaving their wedding reception in a golf cart, killing the bride and leaving the groom critically injured.
At Folly Beach, South Carolina, Samantha Miller, 34, and Aric Hutchinson, 36, celebrated their marriage just before Jamie Komoroski, 25, reportedly rear-ended them.
The joyful pair was captured in heartbreaking photos just before disaster struck, beaming as their guests waved them away with sparklers.
The’sweet’ newlyweds and two other passengers were inside the buggy when it rolled over 100 yards multiple times, instantly killing the bride.
Folly Beach Police claim that Komoroski was intoxicated when operating a leased Toyota Camry and was driving at 65 mph in a 25 mph zone.
Aric had been in critical condition since the crash, and it was unclear whether he realised his wife had perished right after the catastrophe.
His brother-in-law Ben Garrett and nephew Brogan were escorting Samantha and Aric when Komoroski allegedly struck them as well. Ben suffered severe injuries.
Komoroski was charged with three charges of felony DUI resulting in grave bodily harm or death and one count of reckless murder. She was the only one in the automobile when she rear-ended the cart.
TikTok star shot dead by motorbike-riding gunman while live streaming
In May of this year, a Mexican beauty influencer was brutally killed while live streaming to her fans after a gunman on a motorbike opened fire on her salon.
Video captures the horrifying incident in which Valeria Marquez, a 23-year-old aesthetician and TikToker, was shot many times while live-streaming from her beauty salon, Blossom the Beauty Lounge, in the western Mexican state of Jalisco.
In the footage, Valeria is seen grinning and briefly gazing out the window before being shot twice in the head and once in the chest.
Before passing away, the influencer seems to cover the gunshot wound close to her ribcage with her hand.
The footage suddenly seems to stop when an unidentified woman enters the frame.
According to early reports, a shooter entered her salon, shot her, and then rode off on a motorbike.
Even though paramedics raced to the gruesome scene, Valeria was declared dead right away.
Couples tragic last post before being killed by twister at waterfall
Just before they were murdered by a twister at a waterfall, a young couple shared a heartbreaking selfie on social media.
Last month, a flash flood caught Leone Barbosa, 38, and Thássia de Almeida, 36, off guard while they were bathing in the plunge pool at the waterfall.
When they were swept to their deaths, the victims were accompanied by a tour leader and a group of twelve individuals. In the quickly rising body of water, they were cut off from the others.
At the Bocaína Waterfall in the Serra do Intendente State Park, which is situated north of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Barbosa and Almeida vanished.
The two group members and the guide left the others right away to call the emergency services. Around 7:00 p.m., they made a call to the fire department.
The rescue crew didn’t get to the area until about 1:45 am that night because of the challenging terrain.
The remaining group members, who were in shock but not hurt, were discovered by emergency personnel.
While firefighters continued their search for the missing pair, they were forced to wait until dawn to return with the distressed group members.
On April 20, at about noon, their remains were discovered.
Consequently, the Minas Gerais State Forestry Institute and the Fire Department made the decision to temporarily close the Peixe Tolo Canyon region.
The couple took a selfie in the State Park just before they were swept away to their deaths.
“Planting another seed in our garden of memories,” Thássia remarked.
Tragically, they died a few minutes later.
Security guard’s final video message to family kidnap and execution
The final video of him and his coworkers remaining alive before they were abducted and killed in a fierce turf war between competing mining businesses featured a security guard pleading with his loved ones to phone him.
The mining business R&R in northern Peru employed the 13 men as private security guards.
When a rival gang captured and killed them, they had been sent to guard a distant gold mining location in the hilly Pataz region, where both legitimate and illicit players operate.
A man wearing black battle fatigues is seen in the video filming a message, perhaps for a family member, while brandishing a selfie stick. He instructs them to give him a call, although it’s unclear if anyone did.
After the guards were brutally executed in the bloody turf war over mining area, the fugitive known as “Cuchillo,” who is thought to have planned the murder, left the nation.
The murders took place in Pataz, and on May 4 of this year, the bodies were found inside the NV 2520 mine shaft in the Santa María annex close to Trujillo.
Following a battle on April 25 between R&R guards and a group of armed men led by Miguel Antonio Rodriguez Diaz, also known as “Cuchillo,” the group was reportedly moved to a more susceptible location of the mine.
Five members of Cuchillo’s opposing organisation were killed in that earlier altercation, according to an informant who spoke to authorities. Cuchillo’s men captured and killed the 13 guards in what appeared to be revenge.
According to police, these conflicts frequently result in hostages being used as a bargaining chip between competing mining gangs or in executions.
Migration records show that the day following the deaths on May 5, Cuchillo escaped to Colombia. Later, the mayor of Pataz, Peru, charged that the state was involved in his escape.
Additionally, the fugitive is believed of being responsible for the November 2023 murders of nine mine workers at La Poderosa.
He is still at large despite being wanted for extortion and explosives-related offences.
Two OAP sisters die in car crash just minutes after taking a selfie
Just minutes after posting a selfie from their car, two elderly sisters lost their lives in a car accident earlier this month.
On May 1, Miriam and Gladys De la Torre were travelling on Route 88 in Argentina when their Renault Clio struck a 45-year-old Necochea woman named Laura Evangelina Gomez’s Citroen Basalt head-on. Gomez also perished at the scene.
Shortly before the collision, the sisters, who are 62 and 67 years old, respectively, allegedly shared a selfie to family members that showed them grinning as they drove away from Mar del Plata.
However, police are investigating claims that another vehicle was involved after accusations that a dark-coloured pickup truck may have caused the accident, despite worries about using cell phones while driving.
According to the police, Gomez’s car was forced into the path of the De la Torre sisters’ vehicle by a risky manoeuvre made by the other vehicle.
The truck left the scene and has not yet been identified, Gladys’ son Patricio De la Torre told local media.
Witnesses who may have witnessed the truck or the circumstances leading up to the collision are being sought by the police.
Father of groom dies in celebratory gun firing at wedding
In a startling event in Madhya Pradesh, India, a man was killed in a celebratory fire after his son’s wedding in 2016.
According to an official stationed at the Badnagar Police station at the time, Mansoor Patel was shot by members of the marriage party and died instantly.
Before the terrible accident, footage showed a dozen guys with guns gathered in a village, getting their firearms ready.
The men surrounding the father fumbled with their firearms as he entered the frame with his arms outstretched.
Suddenly, however, a shot is fired, striking the man who was rejoicing in the side of the head.
The visitors scramble around him in a last-ditch effort to bring him help as he falls to the ground, but it is too late.
