My Date Insisted on Paying the Bill – I Wish I Hadn’t Let Him

When Eric insisted on covering the expenses of our first date, I perceived him as a genuine gentleman. He arrived with roses, a considerate gift, and engaged me in delightful conversation. However, my initial enthusiasm quickly transformed into disbelief the following morning upon receiving his message.

The Date
Mia arranged for me to meet Eric, describing him as a “complete gentleman.” During dinner, he captivated me with flowers, a custom keychain, and stimulating dialogue. When the bill arrived, he confidently declared, “A man pays on the first date.” I chose not to contest his statement.

The Invoice
The next morning, Eric sent me a Date Night Invoice detailing ludicrous charges:
Bouquet of Roses: 1 hug
Custom Keychain: 1 coffee date
Dinner + Tip Covered: A second date
At the bottom, it stated: Failure to comply may lead to an outstanding balance being sent to collections (Chris will be informed).

The Payback
In response, Chris, Mia’s boyfriend, issued a counter-invoice to Eric:
Introducing You to a Beautiful Woman: 1 permanent block
Allowing You to Sit at the Table: A formal apology to all women you’ve previously dated

Eric’s furious texts ensued, prompting me to block him.

Lesson Learned
If a man insists on paying, ensure he won’t follow up with an invoice afterward. As for the keychain? I decided to keep it as a humorous memento.
