On her first Mother’s Day since giving birth to her new partner, Joaquim Valente, Tom Brady posted a heartfelt tribute about his ex-wife Gisele Bundchen.
The 47-year-old quarterback, who has won seven Super Bowls, initially paid homage to his own mother, Galynn, on Instagram.
He wrote: “Happy Mother’s Day to the strongest and most inspiring woman I know. Your love is the foundation of our family! You’ve faced life’s toughest challenges with grace and determination, still always putting us first.”
“Thank you for being our rock and an example for your kids and grandkids. We’re endlessly grateful for everything you’ve done and everything you continue to be. We love you more than words can say.”
Brady then posted more photos of his ex-wife Gisele, who is the mother of two of his children, and his ex-partner Bridget Moynahan, with whom he has a son named Jack, on his Instagram story.
“Happy Mothers Day to all the incredibly moms I’m so lucky to have in my life,” Brady wrote.
After 13 years of marriage and two children together, Benjamin and Vivian, Brady and Brazilian beauty Bundchen were divorced in 2022.
Bundchen, who is currently dating Valente, her jiu-jitsu instructor, gave birth to a kid earlier this year at the age of 44.
It comes as Brady has apologised for taking part in the ‘Netflix Roast’ last year, where he was mercilessly singled out because of the way his relationship with Bundchen ended.
Brady said he was devastated by his children’s response to it in an interview with the Impaulsive podcast.
“It was tough on my kids for sure,” Brady said. “You don’t know what to expect and I love laughing at myself, it felt like I was in the locker room. And the harder people go at me, I’ll actually love it.”
“If people make fun of you, then I know I’m good with them. And I don’t take myself too serious but I do understand that for my kids, that was really hard.”
Brady then turned somber as he added, “There are some things as a parent you f*** up and you don’t realize until after.”
“We’re not perfect parents. There’s no perfect manual for it and you have to evaluate yourself as a parent too all the time.”
“So even though I really enjoyed the show and the performances were incredible – and when you were in that moment, in that theatre that night at the Forum (in Los Angeles), it was electric. It was crazy.”
“We got done and everybody was on cloud nine. And that moment I’ll never forget. And I’ll never forget when I talked to my kids the next day, and I felt like a stake through the heart – and understandably.”
They’re protective of their mom, of their dad, of everybody. “What was the point of that? Why did you do that?”. You live and you learn.
In the days following the roast last year, the Daily Mail revealed that Gisele, 44, was upset over being singled out during the performance.
“How much would it suck for Tom… just knowing your ex-wife’s new boyfriend could beat your a** while eating hers,” comedian Nikki Glaser joked during the live broadcast at the Kia Forum last June.
Nikki’s other jabs included: Tom, the only thing dumber than you saying “yes” to this roast was when you said, “Hey babe, you should try jiu-jitsu.”
“You have seven rings… well, eight now that Gisele gave hers back,” Nikki said.
