Sixth body found in sunken yacht disaster believed to be billionaire Mike Lynch’s daughter Hannah News24h

Hannah Lynch was reportedly the final person missing after two bodies were recovered earlier this week

The sixth body found in the recent sunken Bayesian yacht disaster is believed to be billionaire Mike Lynch’s daughter Hannah.

The Italian coastguard confirmed this morning (23 August) that the final body had been located on the boat, and just before 1pm local time, search crews recovered the body from the wreckage.

Vincenzo Zagarola of the Italian Coastguard said the search for the 18-year-old has not been ‘easy or quick’, comparing the sunken yacht to an ’18-storey building full of water’.

The superyacht capsized off the coast of Sicily in the early hours of Monday morning with 22 passengers and crew on board. Fifteen people, including the tech tycoon’s wife, Angela Bacares, were rescued with the help of a heroic captain.

And bodies were later brought to shore in the small fishing village of Porticello, with Lynch reportedly being identified yesterday.

The British billionaire, his daughter Hannah, Morgan Stanley International bank chairman Jonathan Bloomer, his wife Judy Bloomer, Clifford Chance lawyer Chris Morvillo and his wife Neda Morvillo were missing when the luxury Bayesian sank at around 5am local time on Monday.

The boat trip was a celebration of Lynch’s acquittal in a fraud case in the US.

Tributes have since poured in for Lynch and the other victims as Eleanor Lightbody, the chief executive of the legal AI company he founded called Luminance, said: “He had a unique ability to spot the next technological revolution and solve tomorrow’s challenges before others even knew they were coming.

“Above all, Mike was a kind man who had an impact on many and will be sorely missed. I feel honoured to have known him, worked with him and learnt from him over the years.”

In a statement confirming their parents’ deaths, the Bloomer family described the couple as ‘incredible people and an inspiration to many’.

They said: “Our parents were incredible people and an inspiration to many, but first and foremost they were focused on and loved their family and spending time with their new grandchildren.

“Together for five decades, our only comfort is that they are still together now.”

Zagarola previously said that a decision on whether or not to raise the sunken yacht from the seabed is ‘not on the agenda, but will be in the future’.

According to Sky News, an investigation into the sinking by the Italian authorities is currently underway, and the captain of luxury Bayesian, James Cutfield, as well as other survivors have reportedly been questioned.
