‘Morning Joe’ host threatens to quit next time MSNBC pulls show off air

A host of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” on Tuesday threatened to quit if the network replaced the show with a breaking news feed again.

MSNBC pulled Monday’s edition and focused coverage on the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump, according to Joe Scarborough, who hosts the show with Mika Brzezinski.

“Let me just say, next time we’re told there’s going to be a news feed replacing us, we will be in our chairs,” Scarborough said, with Brzezinski agreeing.

“And the news feed will be us, or they can get somebody else to host the show,” he added.

MSNBC, according to Scarborough, told the “Morning Joe” team that a breaking news feed would replace all of Monday’s scheduled shows. He claimed that didn’t happen.

“We don’t know why that didn’t happen. Our team was not given a good answer as to why that didn’t happen, but it didn’t happen,” Scarborough said.

A CNN report noted MSNBC pulled “Morning Joe” to prevent the show’s guests from making inappropriate comments about Trump that could be used to criticize the network. Scarborough suggested plans changed after executives received pushback about nixing his show.

“We were also told it was going to happen throughout the day, and I guess after there was such strong blowback about yesterday morning, I guess they changed their plans. And so those plans changed as well,” he claimed.

“Morning Joe” viewers, Brzezinski said, want to watch the show, which involves commentary on political topics.

“I think the reason why is this show began and continues 17 years later on being the place where you can go to have the hard conversations in a civil way,” she asserted. “And so, it seemed like now more than ever is a day, a time that we would like to be on, and I think our viewers agree with that, so we continue.”

MSNBC did not immediately return The National Desk’s request for comment.
